    Worshippers at St Peter and St Paul, Hambledon, celebrated the season of Creationtide with a range of services and activities designed to mark care for God’s creation. These included a pet service, a Harvest tea and Communion celebrated in a farmer’s barn. Read more

  • New Passion Play scheduled for Easter 2024

    Amateur actors will once again stage a Passion Play in Havant. The production will tell the story of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection, this time in a promenade performance in Havant town centre. The actors will come from local churches of all denominations. Read more

  • Children’s Week celebrates 50th anniversary

    Around 70 children from Soberton, Newtown and beyond enjoyed Children’s Week, based at Soberton Village Recreation Ground. It was the 50th anniversary of the annual event, and the vicar who first dreamt it up, the Rev Roger Moseley, was back to see how it had developed since its inception. Read more

  • Meon Valley boy returns as priest

    Bishop Jonathan has appointed the Rev Andy Davis as interim Priest-in-Charge of Swanmore, Soberton, Newtown and Hambledon, and the Meon Bridge benefice. He’ll be in charge of a team of clergy and lay people who will minister in those parishes. He was born and raised in the Meon Valley, so will be returning home. Read more

  • Colourful church history explored in talk

    The fascinating history that links Portsmouth’s ‘Circus Church’ and a modern church on a Fareham housing estate will be explored this Sunday. Self-confessed geek Charlie Stevenson will explain how a popular Victorian church on the site of a former circus eventually became St John the Evangelist Church in Fareham, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.   • Called as a teenager to serve God

    Richard Shurmer was an RE teacher for 36 years and has been a Reader for 37 years. He’s now responding to God’s call to be ordained. He’ll be one of seven people ordained deacon as part of our first Michaelmas cohort of ordinands. Bishop Jonathan will ordain him in our cathedral on September 30. Read more

  • New pioneer minister in Gosport

    Matt Gatt has been appointed as Pioneer Minster in the parish of South Gosport. He’ll be based at St John’s Church, Forton, with the plan to reestablish a worshipping community there, as well as working with young adults and creatives in the area. Read more
