Bishop Jonathan has appointed Canon Kathryn Percival to be the new Archdeacon of the Meon, it was announced today. Kathryn, who is Canon Chancellor and Vice Dean at our cathedral, will be responsible for supporting the ministry of parishes in the Gosport, Fareham, Bishop’s Waltham and Petersfield deaneries. Conference inspires parishes in mission
Clergy and lay leaders from across our diocese came together for a day conference on growth. They took part in a conference on ‘Leading Your Church Into Growth’ (LYCIG), held at St George’s Church, Portsea. Canon Robin Gamble, director of LYCIG led the session, which helped parishes think about practical ways to develop their mission and outreach. Read more

Church schools across our diocese were involved with a project based on a ‘Light of Hope’ art installation, which was suspended above Winchester Cathedral’s nave between October and January. It inspired pupils across Hampshire to create their own miniature lights of hope. Read more

Following its conservation, a century-old work of art monument to Dorothy Marshall Lawrence, the heiress to the Marshall and Snelgrove Department Store fortune, was re-dedicated by the Rev Canon Anthony Hulbert, at a special service held on Sunday 12th March at Andrew’s Church, Meonstoke. Read more

Bishop Jonathan has appointed the Rev Lewis Dean to be the new rector of Harbour Church, based in Portsmouth. Lewis is currently a curate at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton. He’ll take over the leadership of a church that was originally launched in September 2016, and now welcomes 500 people to four services in three different locations in the city. Read more

Bishop Jonathan has appointed the Rev Clare Welham to be the new priest-in-charge of Liss. Clare is currently part-time incumbent of the benefice of Ropley, Bishop’s Sutton and West Tisted. Her new role includes some responsibility for Growing Faith around the Petersfield deanery. Read more

Bishop Jonathan has opened a Little Larder based at St Philip’s Church, Cosham. This aims to provide fresh, affordable food to those who live at the far end of the Highbury Estate. It’s an offshoot of the original Cosham Larder, which began two years ago. The bishop’s visit came as the parish celebrated its second birthday. Read more
