Bishop Jonathan has appointed the Rev Ray Driscoll to be team rector of Gosport South. He’ll lead the staff, volunteers and congregations at Holy Trinity Church, Christ Church and St John’s, Forton. The parish was only created in the past few years, but already its congregations and community engagement has grown. Ray steps up from being team vicar to his new role. Read more

Volunteers from St Barnabas Church in Swanmore lead ‘Worship Wonders’ – a lunchtime group introducing children to the Christian faith in their local school. Dozens of children sing, pray and learn together. The church has also launched a group for parents, babies and toddlers, meaning it's at the forefront of our developing work with children and young people. Read more

The appointment is largely ceremonial, involving attending civic events and offering prayers before council meetings. A new church hall adjoining St Nicholas Church in North End will serve the local community. Plans for the modern hall and garden space next to the church will be unveiled at an Open Day to be held on April 29. If approved, it will be linked to the church itself via a covered walkway and powered by an array of solar panels. Worshippers will showcase their plans, which include a large hall, small meeting room, disabled toilets, kitchen and an open space outside featuring a pizza oven. Read more
