    More than 100 children packed into St Faith’s Church, Lee-on-the-Solent for an Easter extravaganza that included crafts, songs, activities and fun. The two-hour session in Holy Week involved families decorating Easter biscuits, experiencing the sensation of hammering nails into wood and creating Easter gardens. Read more

  • Sixteen-year-old preaches to teenagers at latest High Tide event

    The latest High Tide West youth service included pizza, hot dogs, games, worship and prayer - plus a talk about the Bible passage from 16-year-old Oscar Mellers. It was the latest in a series of High Tide youth events that are helping to shape the new generation as disciples of Jesus. This one brought together youth groups from churches across Fareham and Gosport for an event at Holy Rood, Stubbington. Read more

  • Excited children enjoy holiday club fun

    Children aged four to 11 enjoyed songs, games, drama, craft – and a gunge tank – at the annual holiday club hosted by Church of the Good Shepherd in Crookhorn. Although it has been running each February half-term for more than 20 years, this was the first proper, four-day holiday club since before the pandemic. Entitled ‘The Great Transformer’, this year’s looked at Bible stories in which people were transformed by meeting Jesus. Read more

    Young people from Church of the Good Shepherd, Crookhorn, meet up for games, good, worship, prayer and chat each Friday night at 'The Zone'. The leaders of the youth group are convinced that food is one of the vital things to help build that community of teenagers. Read more

  • Teenagers deepen their faith on summer holiday

    Young people from church youth groups across the Portsmouth area enjoyed four days of fun and finding out more about faith on a summer residential holiday. The teenagers - who get together each month for High Tide youth services - spent four days in a school in Surrey for the 'Gamechangers' residential. It took TV gameshows as its theme, with the chance to take part in activities based on Bake Off, Repair Shop, Hunted, Taskmaster and Million Pound Drop Read more

  • Church youth groups gather in historic castle grounds

    Young people aged 11-18 from church youth groups from Emsworth to Portsmouth, and from Crookhorn to Stubbington, gathered in the grounds of the historic Portchester Castle for an end-of-term celebration. The event brought together around 100 young people for a celebration that included exciting games, barbecued food and live music. Read more

    St Mary’s Church in Portchester runs two separate youth groups on a Friday night, and also engages with the families of those young people who attend. The leaders share their advice about what works and what doesn’t in their context – in case that helps other parishes as they seek to reach out to teenagers. Read more

  • Teenagers discover more about God on activity weekend

    Fifty teenagers from churches across the Portsmouth area spent a weekend on the Isle of Wight learning more about God. They are from the ecumenical High Tide group - in which church youth groups join forces each month for worship and teaching. They headed to the Westbrook Centre near Ryde, for paintballing, swimming, bushcraft, making tie-dye t-shirts, worship, testimony and creative prayer. Read more

  • Children and young people at heart of bishop’s installation

    Children and young people will be at the heart of a special service at which the tenth Bishop of Portsmouth will be installed in Portsmouth Cathedral. The Rt Rev Jonathan Frost will be installed into his ‘seat’ in our cathedral during a service starting at 3:30pm on Saturday 12th March. Read more
