Children enjoy animals, flowers and plants at ‘Muddy Church’
This Gosport church has welcomed chickens and tortoises to its allotment space. It will use these animals, as well as plants, flowers and vegetables, to help teach local children and families about how to care for God’s creation. Read more

Canon Nick Ralph, who runs the Good Neighbours Network of more than 100 care groups around Hampshire, succeeded in inspiring a Parliamentary debate about car mileage rates. MPs debated his proposal to increase the rate at which car drivers are reimbursed, whether they are volunteers or employees. Read more

in SchoolsSchool leavers say farewell at cathedral service
Eleven-year-olds who are preparing to leave their church schools came to special Leavers’ Services in our cathedral. The children, from across the diocese, took part in workshops including singing, re-enacting the Coronation and creating prayer pyramids. They then joined in African drumming as part of a special service led by Bishop Jonathan. Read more

St John’s Church in Northwood hosted the Isle of Wight’s only Balloon Festival, transforming the church into a balloon jungle for the community. The event featured live snakes, a monkey hunt, and homemade food, with leftover resources donated to local institutions. Read more

New priest is the happiest she’s ever been
Newly-ordained priest the Rev Amanda Sim used to think that Christians were weird. Now she’s the one leading church services as a newly-ordained priest. She originally came to faith because her son joined the cathedral choir. She was blown away by the worship and experienced God’s presence. She can now see that her entire life was leading up to her current role. Read more

Bishop Jonathan has appointed the Rev Luiz Lima as the new priest-in-charge of St John’s Church, Locks Heath. Luiz, who is a football-loving Brazilian, is currently the vicar of two churches in Worksop. He will be licensed by the bishop in September. Read more

Architects’ plans to revamp St Luke’s Church in Southsea have been given planning permission. The plans include revamping the exterior of the church, creating a cafe in the church hall and making better use of the garden space. Work may now happen over the next few years. Read more
