Churchwarden marks 40 years of service

LONG-STANDING churchwarden Peter Lambert was presented with an engraved pen and 40 chocolate bars to mark his 40 years of service.
Peter has been churchwarden at St John the Baptist Church, Northwood, on the Isle of Wight, for the past 40 years. He was originally nominated as churchwarden in the early 1980s when the Rev Richard Parker was at the church.
The Rev Di Netherway, his fellow churchwarden Pam Clements and the congregation of Northwood marked this momentous occasion at the end of a Sunday service with a cake and card made especially for Peter.
Peter said: “I just don’t know what to say, I can’t believe everyone’s generosity. I have made many, many friends over these past 40 years and I’m thankful for every one of them. I don’t think I’ll manage another 40 years!“
