Hello from our new Safeguarding Trainer
Message from Julia Barton, our new Diocesan Safeguarding Trainer:
Hello to you all!
I was delighted to join the Diocese safeguarding team in November this year, and hope to be able to meet as many of you as possible over the coming months (in person or on Zoom). My previous post was as a registered nurse leader in the NHS, with responsibilities for safeguarding, working in partnership with other statutory agencies. I have a background in education, having worked in London, at the University of Southampton and at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust in education roles.
I am looking forward to using my past experiences of teaching and safeguarding for the church now, and we have exciting times for safeguarding training ahead of us with the implementation of the new national strategy in 2022.
I am a previous PSO, current PCC member and treasurer at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Crookhorn, and also run a craft club there and participate in worship, playing my guitar and singing. I have recently joined a barbershop choir and enjoy trips away in my van with “Muffin” my lock down Jack Russell!
You can contact Julia on 07384 548190 or julia.barton@portsmouth.anglican.org
