PUPILS at Hook with Warsash C of E Academy in Warsash have spent hours making poppies for a display commemorating the centenary of the First World War.

Inspired by the current war on plastic, pupils and staff recycled plastic bottles to create hundreds of poppies and create a wash of colour both outside and inside the school.

Poppies were displayed around a lone soldier at the school entrance, and a memorial trail continues into every corner inside the school for the pupils and visitors to be reminded of the many sacrifices made.

The local elderly community have been invited to attend a special Remembrance Service of songs and poetry, led by the pupils, to remember those who lost their lives fighting in the war, on Friday 9th November.

The school will also be opening its doors to their pupils on Sunday 11th November to allow younger members to enjoy a range of remembrance activities and songs, keeping this important memory at the forefront of their minds.
