The Needles, Isle of Wight

“Come Holy Spirit – we long to be a rejuvenating community of Jesus-centred, Kingdom-seeking disciples”

Two Minister roles on the Isle of Wight

The Bishop of Portsmouth is looking for two visionary leaders to join our new island-wide clergy and lay team, to work in dependence on God to revive, revitalise and renew the Church in two benefices on the Isle of Wight. We are on the verge of an exciting new chapter in our island’s spiritual life, and are looking for the right mission enablers to complete our team. The island is a beautiful place to live and bring up a family. There are abundant water sports, glorious beaches, and wonderful outdoor opportunities. Your colleagues will share your passion for God’s Spirit to do something new among us, and a senior leadership team will listen, support and cheer you on in your ministry. There are two wonderful benefices to consider, all overlooking the beautiful Solent.

Minister

Cowes

Four distinct parishes exploring working together in plurality; rich in history, industry and nautical adventure.

Minister

Haven benefice

Four rural, bio-diverse parishes gifted with stunning countryside, architectural gems, glorious coastline and uplands.

The Diocese of Portsmouth is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation. The appointment will of course be based on merit alone. Enhanced DBS will be required.

For further information and/or an informal chat regarding either role, please contact Archdeacon Steve Daughtery.

  • Closing date for applications for both roles: Midday, July 8th 2024
  • Interviews: w/b July 22nd 2024
