Sustaining Wellbeing in Ministry

- Wednesday 21st May
- 7:30pm to 9pm
- Online
Those in ministry face a range of challenges to their wellbeing and increasing numbers of people in these complex and key roles are finding them to be unsustainable.
While individual choices might strengthen resilience, a deeper understanding of the systemic issues which threaten the wellbeing of those in ministry is needed. What might really help support and sustain wellbeing beyond the individual level?
This online workshop will explore the heart of these challenges, offering theological reflection, tools and models to explore preventative factors and risks. We will aim to aid self-reflection and identify key priorities, looking at systemic factors specific to ministry while also seeking to empower individuals to make helpful choices.
Together we will examine what helps most in seasons of stress, signs of burnout and their impact, and identify key moments to take action.
About the workshop leader
Corin Pilling is the Vocational Flourishing Officer for The Methodist Church. Prior to this, he was the first UK Director of Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, resourcing churches to support mental health and wellbeing. During the pandemic, on seeing numbers increasing of those in ministry facing burnout, Corin researched challenges faced by those in ministry and the impact on their wellbeing, identifying key factors that can help.
