Christian worship through the ages

A 4-week study of Christian worship and music from biblical times to the present.
- Thursday 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd May
- 7pm to 8:30pm each evening
- St Mary’s Church, Portchester
Eric will show how the worship of the Church has evolved from its Jewish roots, to early Christian liturgy and simple songs, to the more elaborate hymns and choral tradition. We will look at Gregorian chant, the different ways the Psalms have been sung, and the great hymn writers such as Wesley and Watts. We will see how revival and renewal movements caused bursts of new song right up to the present.
