Readers’ Conference 2025

The annual gathering of Portsmouth Readers will give opportunities to nourish your soul, spirit, mind and body.

Theme and Speaker - Retreat, restore, refresh!

Like a tree planted by streams of water bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither, whatever they do, it shall prosper. Psalm 1:3

Led by two members of the Community of Hopeweavers, Jen Lambert and Philippa Mills, there will be space for creative reflection and for worship together. There will also be opportunities to use the spa facilities at the hotel and, of course, time to catch up with one another over meals, a cuppa or in the bar.

The Community of Hopeweavers is a dispersed acknowledged Anglican community. Members of the community are drawn together by their appreciation of stillness, silence and creativity in their relationship with God. You can find out more about them here.

Programme

The conference will start on Friday evening with dinner at 7pm followed by an introduction to the theme and evening worship. On Saturday there will be worship, guided or unguided space for reflection, some free time in the afternoon and a cream tea. The conference will end on Sunday with concluding reflections, a service of Holy Communion and lunch.

Booking

Tickets are:

  • Residential: £200
    includes accommodation, Dinner of Friday and Saturday, Breakfast and Lunch Saturday and Sunday, tea and coffee.
  • Residential with Single Occupancy Supplement: £210
    a £10 extra charge is added for single occupancy and includes accommodation, dinner on Friday and Saturday, breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday with tea and coffee.
  • Non-residential: £95
    includes dinner on Friday and Saturday evening, lunch on Saturday and Sunday with tea and coffee. Breakfast is NOT INCLUDED with this ticket.
