Chaplaincy in the Navy
The Naval Chaplaincy Service is called to serve the people of the Naval Service, their families and the wider Naval Community as the ‘friend and adviser of all on board’ – in particular to prepare them spiritually, emotionally and morally for the demands and rigours of Service Life.

St Ann’s Church, HM Naval Base Portsmouth
After more than 200 years the Church of St Ann remains at the heart of Christian worship within Portsmouth Dockyard. The Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 10 am. Visitors are welcome to attend the service or visit during the week but please contact the chaplaincy in advance in order to make arrangements to access the Dockyard.
For information about baptism, weddings, blessings after a civil ceremony, funerals and other special services please contact the Chaplain of St Ann’s or the Chaplaincy Secretary.
The committal of ashes at sea of former service personnel is conducted according to the dignified traditions of the Royal Navy by a Service Chaplain from a Fleet tender just off Spithead. Please contact the Chaplaincy for further details.
