
Questions for Cairns
Cairns are places where we meet as disciples in a mutual desire to become more like Jesus. If ‘iron sharpens iron’ then to be effective in our calling we need accountable relationships in which others help, encourage and challenge us.
These questions address the aim of our diocese to become Jesus-centred, kingdom-seeking disciples. Each Cairn is encouraged to consider at least some of these when they meet.
Jesus-Centred
- How much time in my diary each day am I giving to spending time with Jesus?
- Am I making consistent space to be alone with God on a sabbath and in solitude?
- When did I last study the scriptures for personal use and what did God reveal to me?
- Am I being personally fed by the worship that I engage with?
- What measures could I take to become closer to and receive more from God?
- Am I living a life of gratitude and thanksgiving?
- Do I feel close to Jesus at this point in time?
Kingdom-Seeking
- What am I doing to help build faith in a God for whom nothing is impossible?
- How am I living out my calling to be a witness to the good news of Jesus?
- Am I seeking to equip others in building God’s Kingdom?
- In what ways am I serving others for the Kingdom?
- Where have I built life giving relationships to enable fruitfulness?
- What personal risks have I taken recently in sharing my faith?
- When did I last share a meal with those in my community?
Disciples
- What evidence is there of the growth of the fruit of the Spirit in my life?
- How am I developing my understanding of God’s call on my life?
- Have I surrendered my whole life to Jesus and his plans for me?
- Am I taking myself too seriously and ignoring my faults and weaknesses?
- When have I spent time focusing on the way of life that Jesus calls me to follow?
- Where do I turn in times of stress to find comfort and peace?
- How have I use my resources of energy, time and finances to declare that Jesus is Lord?
