Details of vacant clergy posts within the diocese

Prison Service Chaplaincy Payband 1 – changes in recruitment

This information was added to the website on 17 January 2011:

There will no longer be national boards for new prison chaplains. If you are interested in moving in to prison ministry, please visit the prison service website (www.hmprisonservice.gov.uk) and click on the tab for “Careers and Jobs”. You may then view all current chaplaincy vacancies and register for job alerts for new vacancies.

Not all establishments are advertising their vacancies in the Church Times or the Church of England Newspaper so it is important to check the website regularly. The application process is on line.

For each appointment candidates new to prison chaplaincy will undergo the three part Board of sermon, role play and panel interview which will usually include the Diocesan Bishop or his representative.

For further information, please contact the Anglican Adviser to the Prison Service, the Reverend Canon Michael Kavanagh Chaplaincy HQ, Post point 3.08, Clive House, 70, Petty France, London SW1H 9HD.  Email:   michael.kavanagh(at)noms.gsi.gov.uk; Tel: 0300 047 5182; Mob 07807 509720.
